Natural and Organic Skin Care with Healing Frequencies

If you like ‘thinking outside the box’, if you use Homeopathy or Flower Essences then you already know that energy medicine and healing frequencies work.

You know that we are all beings of light, that we vibrate at a frequency, that we resonate to other people’s frequencies and that we can be affected by other people’s energy.

You know that everything around us – trees, plants, animals, rocks, crystals, the earth itself – all emit energy and that we are part of this field of energy.

You know how good it feels to be hugged by someone who loves you, how good it feels to be touched by someone who loves you.

You know that we live in a ‘sea of energy’ that connects us all and that we all have access to it and we are all interlinked and interdependent and that “we are all in a matrix of information – a matrix of life”. [Stephan Schwartz]

Living in this field of information and energy was the inspiration for creating Celgenics. I never planned to create a range of skincare, I had the idea of simply infusing the products I made with love, peace and healing and sending this energy out into the world. It’s still my driving force and the reason I put the hours I do into working on Celgenics.

I wanted to create beautiful Natural and Organic Skin Care using Organic ingredients, without petrochemically dervived ingredients and infuse them with a recipe of loving energy and healing frequencies to touch the heart and make a difference to women’s lives.

Every time someone tells me how much their skin has improved or how they now use only Celgenics creams, it makes all the hard work 101% worth it.

Winter Skin – Bags under the eyes

Now is the time of year when we often start getting skin problems that we didn’t have in the summer and puffy eyes is a very common one:

Q What would you recommend to help reduce my under eye bags and puffiness – do eye creams help?

MB: Yes, the right eye cream can help but it’s important to  increase lymphatic drainage. Most women tend to think they mustn’t touch the area under the eyes because the skin is so delicate there; actually this isn’t true, you need to do circular movements around the eyes to get rid of the bags.

The lymphatic system is like a hoover carrying away toxins to your gut to be eliminated but when we’re under stress, we get very acidic and our lymph system doesn’t drain well when we’re acidic. So unclogging it will make a big difference and massage is one way to do it.

The massage start at the base of the neck,
1. Massage across your collarbones towards your shoulders,
2. Down the side of your neck.
3. Massage downwards from in front of your ears down to the jaw. This starts to get the lymphatic system moving
4. Now you’re ready to start the massage around the eyes. Massage along the top of the eyebrows from the midline moving to the outer edge of the eyebrow
5. Under the eyes, massage with a rolling movement of two fingers from the outer corner of the eye to the midline and then massage back towards the outer corner again.
Do each of these movements about 6 times.

When you’ve finished the eye massage, reverse the order of the massage you’ve just done so that you’re clearing away the lymphatic fluid you drained to the outer corner of the eyes down to the base of the neck. Very often you can feel fluid moving down the back of your throat – this really helps with bags under the eyes, try it and let me know how you get on.

The Organic and Vegan Eye cream I developed is programmed with biochemical frequencies to help with puffy eyes and bags under the eyes.  It was one of the reasons it won the Anti Ageing Award from the Beauty Bible.

Meditation for your skin

As anyone who’s come out in spots the day before an interview or a date with the man of your dreams knows, stress – even good stress – is usually the culprit.

It’s well known that the nervous system which is involved in stress has an impact on our health and more often than not it shows up in our skin. Of course, using vegan and organic skincare is going to help with skin problems; so too will regular meditation which has been scientifically shown to change brain chemistry, help with sleep, lower blood pressure, help us to feel less stressed and gives us a profound sense of well being.

Today we are bombarded with stresses never before experienced in history:

No relaxation and/or not enough down-time
Our work ethic drives back to work before we’ve recovered from illness
Acute and Chronic Infections
Fear, anxiety, depression
Poor diet and junk food
Emotional Stress
Recreational drugs
Excess sugar
Excess caffeine

The result of stress is increased production of adrenal hormones cortisol and adrenalin and if you’re wondering why this has an impact on skin and our ageing process, the impact occurs directly and indirectly:

• Adrenalin diverts blood away from our skin so it doesn’t receive proper nutrition
• When we’re stressed we crave carbs and sugar; sugar raises insulin levels, which promotes the production of testosterone in women, and inflammation in general, often causing acne
• Emotional stress stimulates hormonal changes and we break out in spots
• Stress causes muscle tightness and slows down the blood flow to your skin
• Excess cortisol lowers your immune system and your skin is more prone to infection
• Your adrenals use up lots of Vitamin C to produce cortisol and if your vitamin C level is low you can’t make collagen – Vitamin C is a prerequisite for the production of collagen.
• When cortisol is raised, as it is when we’re stressed it leads to blood sugar imbalances which promote the formation of complexes known as AGE’s – advanced glycosylated end products which cause inflammation and decrease the elasticity of connective tissue. In other words your skin!

Stress leads to inflammation and it’s now recognised that inflammation is one of the key contributors to the ageing process and one of the first places we see the signs of ageing is in our skin. The accumulated effects of doing all those things we love to do, like getting a sun tan, eating chocolate and ice cream, drinking delicious wine, enjoying a long cool, fizzy drink in the summer can all add up to creating free radical damage and inflammation. Using products with anti oxidants which are often to be found in good Organic skincare and Vegan skincare will certainly help, because free radicals cause inflammation and have been found to speed up the ageing process.

The antidote to producing excess cortisol and adrenalin, to reducing inflammation that pushes us on to the path of pain and premature ageing, is to deal with the stress that causes it in the first place.
Meditation is the antidote.

Meditation is like a hoover for the brain and the body which clears away information overload and tension that so many of us live with on a day to day basis without recognising it. It enables us to drop into a deep state of relaxation and experience a feeling of inner peace that almost nothing else can replicate. It cleanses and rejuvenates at a deep cellular level.
In this state of deep relaxation achieved through meditation, we produce ‘happy hormones’ such as serotonin and growth hormone which repairs our cells and tissues, allows our heart rate to go down and muscles to relax, reduces blood pressure and allows our immune system to function optimally. In this relaxed state we’re able to conserve our resources to generate repair and we generally have a deep sense of wellbeing.
So how does meditation achieve this?
When you’re relaxed, your parasympathetic nervous system switches on. You have better digestion, better memory, better immunity and much more. However, it’s not the same sort of relaxation that you experience sitting reading a book or watching television. Meditation is a state of deep relaxation where tension in the body is released and your mind completely switches off.

Here’s a beautiful video to get you in the mood to meditate:

It’s generally advised that 20 minutes a day is all it takes to reap the rewards of meditation. You can maximise the benefits of meditation for your skin with these 5 tips.

1. Follow the advice of Thich Nhat Hahn who wrote in his book ‘Being Peace’:
“Breathing in, I calm my body. Breathing out, I smile. Dwelling in the present moment, I know this is a wonderful moment.” (Smiling stimulates our ‘happy’ hormones and our skin literally glows from this feeling)
2. Breathe deeply from the abdomen, not your chest. This way you inhale more oxygen and the more oxygen you breathe in the less anxious and stressed you will feel and the more oxygenated blood will reach your skin.
3. Visualise a wonderful, soothing light washing all the tension out of your body. See the light soothing and releasing all the fine lines and wrinkles.
4. Take your attention to your toes and ‘ask’ that they release any tension; continue releasing tension in this way as you take your attention to your legs, pelvis, back, chest, shoulders, neck and finally head. There is nothing to ‘do’, simply ask each part of your body to let go of the tension it holds. Continue doing this with your face, do one side of your face first and then the other. Feel the difference between one side and the other.
5. Visualise your body and your face being free of all pain and inflammation. Visualise your skin looking wonderful and feeling amazing.

The more you meditate, the more you radiate!

Organic Skin Care is here to stay!

As the evenings get dark and we draw the curtains on the world outside, now’s a good time to go through all the make-up you haven’t used and will never use! Because although that lipstick looked great in the shop, when you got it home the colour didn’t quite match; the eye shadow you bought that just wasn’t quite right – chuck them out! Keep all your organic skin care and get rid of products loaded with parabens and SLS’s.  More and more cosmetic companies are finally seeing the light and moving away from using ingredients that your body was never designed to handle.

Organic Skin Care by CelgenicsOrganic skin care is here to stay, so too is vegan skin care, they both tick the boxes for being great for your skin and great for the environment.

Getting rid of things you no longer need and beauty products are no different, creates a space for something new and better to come into your life. You know the saying – when one door closes another one opens. This can be true of relationships as well, how often do we look back and realise that what seemed a disaster when a relationship ended, turned out in the end to be the best thing that could have happened.

Puffy eyes and dark circles under your eyes

What can you do for puffy eyes and dark circles under your eyes?

One of the most common problems women have as they get older and what they’re always looking for help with is a cream for puffy eyes and/or a cream for dark circles. If your eyes are a mirror to your soul, some people’s souls look puffy, tired and wrinkled!

But there are natural tips and tricks that will help besides finding the right eye cream.

The first is good old fashioned tea, caffeinated tea that contains tannins. Tannins act to tighten and are a mild diuretic. You soak 2 tea bags in warm water, then chill them in the fridge. Place a tea bag over each eye for 5 minutes and see the difference.

The second is cucumber. When your eyes are red and puffy, cut some slices of cold cucumber, lie down and place a slice over each eye for 5 minutes.

In third place is raw potato or potato juice.

Cold milk also works well, soak a cotton pad with cold milk and place one over each eye.

I believe it’s important to understand why we get puffy eyes and of course there are no simple answers. The answers are usually a combination of factors, such as lack of sleep, smoking cigarettes, excessive alcohol, pollution and allergies.

In Chinese medicine, puffy eyes are often linked to problems with the kidneys which are themselves linked to what we eat and drink. Too much water or too little water, salty foods, too much fat and dairy, refined sugars are all possible causes of puffy eyes and dark circles.

Try cutting them down or better still, take them out of your diet for 3 – 4 weeks and see the difference for yourself.   If you’re thinking, “what am I going to eat”, then the likelihood is your diet has strayed away from  fresh wholesome foods.  It’s time to get back to basics; think of eating as if supermarkets and convenience foods had not yet been invented!

Cleanser for Sensitive Skin

Cleanser For Sensitive Skin

Are you someone who finds it hard to find a cleanser for sensitive skin? Do you have a problem finding one that really works to remove makeup but doesn’t strip your skin of its’ natural oils at the same time?

I used to be one of these people so I speak from first hand experience of knowing how hard it is.
Finding a cleanser for sensitive skin required me to try hundreds of different brands. Some did a great cleansing job but I felt I’d been attacked by a brillo pad, others hardly touched the small amount of make up I wear.

So when I created Celgenics, I knew I had to have a cleanser that would deeply cleanse and not strip my skin like paint stripper! I also had to create a cleanser that I could remove  either by washing it off or I could use cotton pads (I’m old fashioned!) and it had to leave my skin feeling ultra clean without being dry and tight. I’m happy to say that my deep cleansing lotion ticks all of my boxes!
