The Vegan Society
The Vegan society was founded in 1944 to advise people how to live and eat without using any
animal products. The idea that being Vegan could benefit not just animals, but humans and the
environment as well, must have been quite revolutionary at the time.
The principles of the Vegan Society have now spread into many areas of life in the 21st century,
including an increasing interest from the scientific community to carry out medical research
without the use of animals. The Dr Hadwen Trust for Humane Research is a charity which funds
non-animal medical research at universities, hospitals and research institutes across Britain.

Having Vegan status means that neither ingredients nor products, are tested on animals and do
not use animal based products.
